The ranch house was likely at that long-vacant lot that once housed former KRLA radio towers. Before Rosemead Blvd was built by the State (as State Route 164/19), Durfee was the road to get down to Pico. The Durfees probably subdivided lots in the Whittier Narrows (which unfortunately are now being inhabited by the homeless) - about 15 small ranches existed before 1957 along the bike trail (Siphon Road). Then the next neighbor further south at the corner of Cate and Durfee in Pico is a portion of the Walter Temple homestead. I believe the Durfee ranch house had to go to make way for the construction of the 60 Freeway as well as the Army Corp's development of Herbert Legg Lake.
