A Simons reunion was held on April 15, 2005 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Plant Number 3. The event was sponsored by the City of Commerce. Organizer Betty Uyeda introduced the evening with these statements:
"Your presence here tonight indicates these things: those of you who do not have direct ties to the Simons community, I believe you do have an inkling that our tribute tonight is an important one to learn about. Those of you, who do attribute your heritage to El Pueblo de Simons, have traveled from such places as Prescott, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; Fremont, California; Bakersfield; Barstow; Hemet; Yucaipa; Lucerne Valley; Pomona; Riverside; Dana Point; Vista; Oceanside; Mission Viejo; Escondido; as well as nearby Whittier, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Montebello and Commerce, all stemming from a gravitational desire to revisit the neighborhoods preserved in your hearts and memories and to meet up with family, friends, and former neighbors."
